Your Bad Roads Will Not Be Fixed Because You Don't Vote For NPP - Koforidua Zongo Community Told

Koforidua Zongo in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern region continue to register their displeasure about the deplorable nature of their roads.

According to some opinion leaders in the zongo community , the zongo roads was constructed and asphalted during late President Jerry John Rawlings era in the 90s and have not seen any face lift since then which continue to subject the roads to deteriorate on daily basis.

After imploring all the needed avenues including petitions ,protest and demonstrations to get authority fix the zongo roads had failed , the zongo community joined hands in a communal labour with an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the constituency Evans Appiah who provided trips of clay soil and gravels to commence work on the road saying they feel neglected by both NPP and NDC.

In an interview with the Independent Parliamentary Candidate Evans Appiah said "Koforidua Zongo roads have been neglected by this government because the NPP leadership in the Constituency says the zongo people do not vote for the NPP party in any election".

Evans Appiah further accused the sitting member of parliament for New Juaben South constituency Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi of preventing him from fixing Koforidua- Zongo deplorable roads after he submitted a letter to the assembly and the department of urban roads of his intent to award the Koforidua- Zongo roads for contract.

According to the Independent Parliamentary Candidate , "my checks and fact findings indicates that the MP has restrained the assembly and the department of urban roads not to give approval for me to go ahead to construct the road due to his fear of losing votes in the 2024 election in the zongo community".

He emphasized that the MP's comment and statement made on his private owned local radio station suggest that he will do everything possible to prevent him from embarking on his project of fixing deplorable roads in the zongo community and it adjoining areas.

Evans Appiah therefore appealed to electorates in the zongo community to reject NPP and NDC Parliamentary candidates in the 2024 general elections.

The Communal labour was occasioned by an appeal to the Independent Parliamentary Candidate by the zongo community since they feel neglected by both NPP and NDC regarding their bad roads.

Some of the Koforidua Zongo Community members also expressed their concerns and displeasure and waved their support for the Independent Parliamentary Candidate Evans Appiah since they've lost hope in both NPP and NDC.

They disclosed that the deteriorated road in the zongo community is affecting economic activities in the area and worse of it is that school buses do not want to ply the road to pick up students to their various schools therefore they trek for a long distance before catching up with the school buses each morning.
