Today, July 28, 2023, the Adisadel College student who was shown on a viral video physically manhandling, choking, and attacking a fellow student went before the Cape Coast District Court 2 to face charges of assault and causing hurt; however, the case had to be deferred since an incomplete panel was present in the courtroom.

The revised time and date for the hearing is going to be the second Wednesday of August in 2023.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Cape Coast police earlier this week, and they have now charged him with attacking a coworker as well as causing bodily harm to another person.

The video that circulated online showing a student choking and physically attacking a classmate caused a commotion, which in turn prompted the school, the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education, and the Ghana Police Service to take quick action.

Because the victim did not support the case, the school terminated the suspect's employment and suspended the victim. The victim's suspension was overturned as a result of the Deputy Director of Education's intervention. Since then, he has been brought back to the school, where he is currently receiving the appropriate psychological and medical care.

In the meantime, the housemaster of Quaque House, which is where the incident took place, has been removed from his position pending the results of an investigation into the case. When he found out about the viral video, the headmaster said that he did not deliver as well as was expected in the subject of the viral video.

Because of the video, intense debates on the topic of bullying in senior high schools as well as potential solutions to the problem have been rekindled. Some people think that senior high schools should have boarding schools rather than regular schools because they believe that this will help put an end to bullying once and for all.
