“Forget about the elections in 2024, The next president of Ghana will be John Mahama” – Alan Kyerematen’s Resignation Is Met With Criticism From Bongo Ideas

The political clime in Ghana is buzzing at the moment because of the proposed 2024 general election. All eyes are on the presidential candidates and what they are getting up to in order to secure the most coveted seat in Ghana. One of the recent events that rocked the ruling party on Monday this week was the resignation of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

The former Minister did this via a press conference, he announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and shockingly revealed that he is going to compete as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 general elections. According to him, a lot of things have gone wrong in the party he used to know. Below was part of his speech:

” The NPP as it exists now has very little resemblance to the Party that I joined in 1992 and helped to nurture. The Party has been hijacked by a selected group of Party leaders and elders, government appointees, ” behind the curtain power brokers” and some unscrupulous Party apparatchiks.

I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honorably resigning from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 general elections as an independent presidential candidate.

To actualize this goal, I will establish and lead a new MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE in Ghana. The brand logo for the MOVEMENT is the Monarch Butterfly, which politically symbolizes change and transformation, hope, and positivity.
