GHS53 Million Stolen In Total From Cecilia Dapaah's Home – Lawyer Reveals

More than 53 million Ghana cedis were taken from the residence of the former minister of sanitation and water resources.

This new revelation follows the scandal involving the alleged theft of multiple foreign and local currencies from the residence of the former minister's housekeeper.

On Friday, July 21, it was revealed that two housekeepers of the Minister were facing accusations before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis in October 2022 from the former minister's residence in Abelenkpe, Accra.

Patience Botwe, age 18, and Sarah Agyei, age 30, are accused of stealing the couple's money and personal belongings between July and October 2022.

However, according to Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, he has credible information from very trusted sources that more than 53 million Ghana Cedis were stolen from the Minister's residence last year.

However, the Minister was able to recover a portion of the funds from the two perpetrators, with the remainder still pending in court.

Attorney Edudzi disclosed on TV3 that the alleged offender was under the age of 18 at the time of the alleged crime and was therefore brought before a juvenile court earlier.

"I have it on good authority that the amount involved exceeds Ghs 53 million," he said.

In response to the scandal, Madam Dapaah resigned from her position.

She stated that she decided to resign "because I do not want this matter to become a government preoccupation and a hindrance to government work at such a crucial time."

President Akufo-Addo has expressed confidence in her vindication.
