UEW Co-operative Credit Union: We reduced our interest rate on loans to help our members manage their finances during the Convid 19 pandemic - Mrs Christiana Kilson

Mrs Christiana Kilson, CEO for UEW Co-operative Credit Union in Ghana has highlighted on what their institution did to assist their members during the convid season and also how they were able to sail through during the financial clean ups which affected many banking institutions.




Explaining how the magic way done to brand reporter DjQwequ during the grand opening of their new office at Cape Coast, she said the best option their office thought of doing is to reduce the interest rate on their loans as a means to help members pay their loans. This according to her really helped their members to still work and make money during the convid time and also make things easy for their members during this national crisis.

"During the convid 19 pandemic, Ghanaians really went through tough times. Once we noticed that, we called for a meeting with our members to reduce our interest rate on their loans. This really helped them to stay be in good shape during the pandemic. This decision also helped those who couldn't work during the pandemic to pay their loans after meeting and reaching new agreement with them".

She also added that, their office held financial counseling for their members on how to manage their finances well through hardship.


She ended with their office buying 3 in 1 incubator for the Central Trauma hospital.

"As a way of giving back to the society, we've bought 3in1 incubator with weighing scale and other items which cost us Eight-Five thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc85,000) for the hospital to aid pre term babies. Those babies are national asset and make be kept alive. Who known what will come out of them. Their lives matters to us.
