In a heartbreaking incident in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, a Liberian mother and her 13-year-old son were tragically found dead in their locked room. The community was left in shock as they had not seen the woman and her child for several days, although there were no initial suspicions of foul play.

The woman, known as Mommy, was a 35-year-old hairdresser, while her son's name remains undisclosed. Witnesses recalled seeing them brushing their teeth outside their house on the morning of Monday, June 12, 2023, after attending a birthday party the day before. However, nobody had seen them since then. Concerned customers of the woman visited her house to inquire about her well-being, and it was a few days later that the neighbors noticed flies and a putrid smell emanating from the woman's room.

Alarmed by the odor and the presence of flies near the window, the neighbors decided to look through the window on June 14, 2023. To their horror, they discovered the lifeless bodies of both the mother and her son, prompting them to immediately inform the police. The stench was so overpowering that the authorities faced difficulties in removing the bodies until the room was properly disinfected.

The entire neighborhood was taken aback by this devastating turn of events, and they were left questioning the circumstances surrounding the untimely deaths of the woman and her young son. Mary Amoah, a resident, expressed her surprise, mentioning that they became concerned after realizing the Liberian woman had been missing for several days. She remembered the woman mentioning her intention to prepare beans and plantain before her sudden disappearance. The discovery of flies hovering around their house prompted more residents to gather in the area, seeking answers.

In a separate incident, a 13-year-old student named Godfred Ankomah from Swedru Methodist 'B' Basic School in the Central Region lost his life after being caned by his teacher for incorrect answers to homework questions. The teacher, known as Madam Mili, delivered the punishment that tragically led to the student's demise. Godfred, who was in form 2, suffered the fatal consequences of this disciplinary action.

Additionally, the father of a young woman named Madwoa, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, has spoken out about the incident. Atakora, the father of the deceased, revealed that he was aware of his daughter's boyfriend. The couple even had a daughter together, making the tragedy all the more devastating.

These incidents serve as painful reminders of the fragility of life and the need for vigilance in ensuring the safety and well-being of those around us. It is crucial to create an environment where violence and harm have no place, particularly when it involves vulnerable individuals such as children and loved ones.
