Tragic Loss: Three Lives Claimed in Horrific Anyinam Accident

In a tragic incident on Wednesday, May 18, 2023, at 6:10 am, a devastating road accident took place on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Enyiresi near Anyinam in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) swiftly responded to the distressing incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a Hyundai Sonata vehicle with the registration number GS 7776 – 19. The driver of the Hyundai lost control of the vehicle while attempting to make way for an overtaking Sprinter bus, resulting in the Hyundai vehicle somersaulting and plunging into a nearby stream. Tragically, the vehicle sank instantly upon impact.

Heartbreakingly, all three occupants of the Hyundai vehicle, comprising two females and a male, were trapped inside and drowned in the stream. The lifeless bodies of the victims were subsequently retrieved and handed over to the police. In order to preserve the bodies and conduct further investigations, the police deposited them at the Enyiresi Government Hospital Mortuary.

The brave rescuers from the Anyinam Fire Station acted swiftly upon receiving the distress call and rendered their assistance in the rescue operation.

The GNFS Public Relations Officer for the Eastern Region conveyed heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and emphasized the importance of drivers exercising caution and possessing better road awareness to prevent such unfortunate incidents from occurring in the future.
