UMaT Holds a Management Conversation at Busuah Beach Resort

The University of Mines and Technology has organsied a 3-day New Year School for selected senior officers of the University as part of the tactical plans of the Vice Chancellor to enhance team work for the efficient performance of staff.

The programme, which was the first of its kind organized by the University, took place from Sunday, 7th January to Tuesday, 9th January, 2024 at the Busua Beach Resort, Busua in the Western Region.

It involved a management conversation among Principal Officers, Deans, Heads of Departments and selected Heads of Units of the University.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Richard K. Amankwah said that it is necessary for leaders of institutions to find appropriate means to improve upon their governance systems and create transparent environment where everyone can speak to issues objectively to achieve higher growth.

The management conversation was therefore to provide an informal forum for Principal Officers, Deans, Heads of Departments and Units to share meaningful interactions and to discuss various issues of importance for higher staff output for the development of the University.

The Vice Chancellor opened the conversation and shared his tactical plans with the participants who collectively expressed support for the plans.

The Registrar, Mr M. K. Okrah led discussion on administrative roles of Deans and Heads of Departments and Units while the Finance Officer, Mr Jonathan Sakoe led discussion on financial administration.

Deans also presented their tactical plans which were scrutinized by the participants to ensure efficient execution of the plans.

The New Year School gave opportunity to the participants to make various recommendations for consideration by the Academic Board.

Participants, at the end of the programme, expressed satisfaction with the various conversations and stressed the need to organise same in the subsequent years.
