Laura Tui Mariu is a New Zealand international rugby league player who has played in all six Women’s Rugby League World Cups (2000, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2017, 2021) and subsequently boasts three time world champion status.

The 41-year-old rugby league legend is the only player in history to have competed in every Women’s Rugby League World Cup.

Although her previous five tournament appearances were in New Zealand colors, Mariu represented her mother’s Canadian heritage in this year's tournament.

She made an impact in all the tournaments by scoring at least a try or goal.

Mariu was named captain of the New Zealand Warriors Women's team for the inaugural NRLW competition in 2018.

Laura has dedicated 17 years of her life to rugby league as the captain of the Kiwi Ferns and is a role model for all young women aspiring to reach the pinnacle of our game.

Mariu was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours for services to rugby league.

Laura couldn't pass up the opportunity to play in the Rugby League World Cup 21 despite having announced her retirement from Rugby League World Cup.
