Three persons have died in a gold pit close to Old Apinamang cemetry in the Denkyembour District of the Eastern Region.
The deceased victims are two males and a female aged between 25 and 41.
Police report says they received information about the incident from the Assemblyman of the area, John Boakye, on Wednesday noon.
On arriving at the scene, they found three bodies covered with leaves.
The three were part of workers mining for gold in the pit before it caved in on them.
The bodies have been deposited at the St Dominic Hospital at Akwatia for autopsy and preservation.
Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command DSP Ebenezer Tetteh says investigations have begun.
