Former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has criticised his successor, Akufo-Addo and his government for only being good in plagiarism.
Speaking to thousands of supporters and aficionados of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the tenth and last unity walk of the party in Aflao in the Ketu South constituency of the Volta Region, the former president chastised the current government under the leadership of Nana Addo-Danquah Akufo-Addo for plagiarizing and renaming already commissioned infrastructural projects under his leadership as president.
The former first gentleman said “I thought they are only good in plagiarizing speeches. Didn’t know they are good in plagiarizing projects too”.
The Unity Walk, which has hit nine regions was held in the Volta Region popularly known as ‘electoral world bank’ of the largest opposition party.
The Unity Walk by the National Democratic Congress aims at uniting the party to capture power in 2020 though has had some critics within the party regardless, has been able to resonate with the grassroots of the party as they move from region to region.
On Monday, June, 4, 2018, former president, Jerry John Rawlings criticised it as he addressed cadres and members of the party gathered at Madina in Accra, to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the June 4th uprising.
Mr. Rawlings bemoaned that, NDC Unity Walk seems to be a parochial agenda aimed at marketing some individual and excluding others.
