Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has accused government of neglecting some 29 Ghanaian migrants seeking asylum in Spain.
The Ghanaians were part of 600 migrants rescued off the coast of Libya while traveling in rickety boats on the Mediterranean sea.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs who has been on a fact-finding mission in Valencia, Spain stated that President Akufo Addo has failed to show leadership.
“First he must acknowledge that 28 Ghanaians are in deed affected and he must reach out to them, find out about their welfare, he must find out about those who have died and what can be done for their families. Then we must also have the President put out a Marshall plan, how do we stop the movement, first public education, secondly closing the loopholes and apart from public education, we need a national security intervention that addresses the loopholes at our borders that allows for this migration to take place.” Okudzeto Ablakwa told Joy FM.
