Residents of Amansie Central District in the Ashanti Region have appealed to authorities to crack the whip on illegal mining activities in the district.
The residents say their own source of water has been destroyed due to the activities of illegal miners
Spokesperson of the aggrieved residents, Nana Boakye Dankwa told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that the activities of the illegal miners, is a threat to their safety, livelihood hence the for authorities to deal ruthlessly.
He further appealed to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene to also intervene.
Nana Boakye Dankwa said: “this is terrible and sad. The activities of illegal miners have deprived us of portable water. We want authorities to deal with those engaging in illegal mining.”
