A group calling itself the NDC Action Movement has stated that General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is not qualified to be the running mate of their presidential aspirant, John Dramani Mahama.
According to them, Asiedu Nketia is bankrupt of tangible ideas, adding that, he lacks the necessary leadership skills to unify party members.
In a press release signed by the leader of the group, James Agbey, it stated that “Action Movement want to put on record that Asiedu Nketia is not qualified for the position of Presidential running mate on the ticket of the NDC. The man simply lacks the leadership qualities for unification and he’s bankrupt of ideas”.
The statement further claims Asiedu Nketia has a dented reputation and is noted for his vile, vicious and derogatory comments in the media.
It said “We want the salt of the earth type of people to lead the party. Asiedu Nketia is definitely not one of such people. He is reputed for so many vile, vicious and derogatory commentary in our body politics. Such a flimflam confidence man with zero moral standing must not be allowed to even dream of ascending the high office of vice president”.
However, the group entreated Former President Mahama to fish out for a credible, tenacious running mate instead of thinking to select Asiedu Nketia.
They urged Mahama to stay focused, look out for an intellectual who will unify both aggrieved members and floating voters to the NDC party.

There have been reports that former President John Dramani Mahama is considering Johnson Asiedu Nketia as his running mate for the 2020 general elections.
The Chief Scribe of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia, is said to have rich experience in the field of politics.
He is also noted to be affable and also has the ability to mobilize grassroots in the rural communities to vote for President Mahama in the coming 2020 general elections.
In an interview with Kasapa FM's Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa, Johnson Asiedu Nketia noted that he's aware Mahama is considering him to be his running mate for the elections, adding that, he believes he’s competent to occupy that high office but added that he wouldn’t lobby for the position.
“I’ve also seen the speculation viral on social media but I’ve not been spoken to by the Flagbearer. We don’t campaign for the running mate position, our party has a structure that is followed in selecting a running mate who will be very suitable for the position. I know I deserve that position if you ask me, but it doesn’t lie in my mouth to say it. Let’s leave that to the appointing authority” he said.

The NDC Action Movement have become aware of a number of media publications in which the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia is reported to have disclosed his interest in partnering our flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama as running mate for the 2020 elections.
We are also aware of intense horse-trading, lobbying and self promotional gimmicks going on in NDC quarters all in an attempt to get the flagbearer's attention and sway his choice of a running mate.
Even though we know too well that Asiedu Nketia's name CANNOT, and HAS NOT come up for consideration by the flagbearer, we need to set a few records straight here.
Action Movement want to put on record that Asiedu Nketia is not qualified for the position of Presidential running mate on the ticket of the NDC. The man simply lacks the leadership qualities for unification and he's bankrupt of ideas.
Presidential running mate position does not come with the sort of jokes and primitivity associated with Asiedu Nketia. It is also not about wearing a female winter jacket on a foreign state visits.
The position of running mate entails more than the qualities Asiedu Nketia posses, and we are by this statement cautioning all those attempting to elevate this on top of our national discourse to desist from such suicidal actions.
The fact that many of our party folks applaud Asiedu Nketia's grasp on party matters should not give him false sense of invincibility and entitlement.
Action Movement takes serious offence to Mr Nketia's media antics. We are lifelong NDC and we think the party is a pretty decent entity for the likes of Asiedu Nkentia to be considered for it's presidential running mate.

The NDC can certainly do better than Asiedu Nketia and his likes.
Let the jokes end now, and let's set ourselves free of this nightmare.
We also call on the flagbearer, John Mahama to keep his focus and settle on a person with credibility, tenacity and integrity - An intellectual and a unifier who would bring many aggrieved members and the floating voters on board the NDC train.
