A communication team member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Kofi Wereko, has stated that the survey conducted Center for Democratic Development (CDD), on the issue of corruption cannot represent Ghanaians.

The communicator noted that Ghana’s population is above 30 million and the survey is not a fair representation of the people.

He said the survey could not use less than 3,000 respondents and generalize their opinions as a national representation.

The survey said that the majority of Ghanaians cast doubt in the commitment of President Akufo-Addo to fight corruption is not a fair representation of the entire population.

The survey said 62% of 2,400 Ghanaians interviewed in a post-election survey conducted between May 23 and June 3, 2021, indicate that they do not have confidence in the current president in fighting corruption.

In their view, the president lacks what it takes “to protect the country’s financial resources and curb corruption in the next four years.”

“While Ghanaians are split (48% vs. 48%) on the government’s ability to ensure that rule of law is upheld in the next four years, majority [of them] are not confident in its ability to protect the country’s financial resources (53%) and curb corruption and official impunity (62%).”

The respondents stated that President Akufo-Addo will not be able to curb corruption and impunity in his second term.

But John Kofi Wereko appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said the survey should be used to assess the performance of President Akufo-Addo.

To him, President Akufo-Addo has distinguished himself as a man of credibility adding, Nana Addo is an incorruptible man. He is a man of his words. There is no corruption saga recorded under Nana Addo.
