The District Chief Executive of Pusiga, Abdulai Zubeiru, had to be rushed to the Akunye Memorial Hospital in Pusiga on Saturday, September 28 after he fainted.
Mr Zubeiru fainted immediately he was declared loser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary in the Pusiga Constituency.
Mr Zubeiru polled 197 votes, just seven votes short of winner Abdul Karim Dubure’s.
Per the results, Mr Dubure will face Laadi Ayi Ayamba in the 2020 elections.
The DCE is said to have harboured high hopes of winning Saturday’s primaries.
But his hopes were dashed after his closest contender polled 204 votes of the total valid votes cast.
Meanwhile, Mr Zubeiru has strongly denied fainting and subsequently being taken to the hospital.
He told our correspondent, Rabiu Tanko Mohammed, that he never swooned as reported and was not taken to the hospital.
