The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku constituency, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye has disclosed that unlike reports by the NDC that the Electoral Commission is causing financial loss to the state with a decision to introduce a new voters’ register, the commission is rather ‘protecting the public purse’.
One of the reasons for opposing the new voters' register according to the National Democratic Congress is the fact that it is going to take a chunk of the country’s resources which can be channelled to other ‘needy’ sectors of the economy.
But Dr Okoe Boye contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ indicated that instead of causing financial loss to the state, the EC will rather save the country from ‘unnecessary’ expenditure.
