The government has condemned Monday’s shooting incident at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti regional office.
One person died leaving several others injured when chaos erupted amidst gunshots during a meeting which was being chaired by the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has declared four persons alleged to be members of pro-NDC vigilante group “The Hawks” wanted over the shooting incident.
In a statement, the Police revealed that the suspects are Warrior, Damous, Migyima and Abu Tariban. The crime scene has also been cordoned off to enable the police conduct investigations.
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a statement said:
“Government expresses condolences to the bereaved family, wishes the injured a speedy recovery and urges the Police to speed up investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.”
He added: “Government reiterates that violence should be eschewed from all spheres of our national life. Citizens and Groups are further encouraged to desist from actions that create a state of insecurity in our nation.”
The former president John Mahama has also condemned the shooting incident.
