Government has wasted our resources on NABCO without any impact - ILAPI

Policy think tank, Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI) is suggesting the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) introduced by government to provide employment for graduates has not achieved any meaningful impact.

Executive director for the policy think tank, Mr Peter Bismark Kwofie, slammed government for wasting ghc30 million in training Nation Builders Corps beneficiaries without any measurable impact.

He has described as waste of public resources the advertisement of the passing out ceremony of NABCO. The amount he noted could have been used to employ about 18,000 Ghanaians for a period of 10 years. "We cannot waste the initial GH 30 million released for the program which could have been ploughed into employing 18,000 Ghanaians for a period of 10 years.

First, MMDCE's were trained on this program without an expected measurable outcome at a huge cost of which the State does not want us to know of. The recruitment itself wasn't fair. There were high inequalities at the Districts and Constituencies.

This is what Goal 10 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) frowns on, and NABCO did not achieve that," he posited. He is also claiming that, "the flagship program of the government did not have expected impacts and the inconsistencies are signs of how unprepared the government is, to the creating of realistic opportunities."

*THE PASSING OUT CEREMONY FOR NABCO TRAINEES IS A WASTE - _ILAPI_*

Advertising the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) Trainees at the independent Square as an employment scheme is a waste of taxpayers contributions and populism.

This is so sad that, we have to outdoor the trainees with a Ceremonial dress (clothe) at a cost. The NPP government has used taxpayers contributions to order for a ceremonial cloth for this! From the get-go, the headline is captioned for 100,000 trainees to be recruited but the policy has recruited 90,000 individuals.

Again, it was speculated that, August 2018, trainees would start working and we are in October. We cannot waste the initial GH 30 million released for the program which could have been ploughed into employing 18,000 Ghanaians for a period of 10 years.
