A group of supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress, calling themselves “I am 4 JM Campaign” is urging the party’s delegates to elect former President John Dramani Mahama to lead them to elections in 2020.
It said he was their sure bet for electoral victory.
According to the group, Mr Mahama’s popularity, had kept soaring and was the one who could wrest power for the NDC.
They are based in the Upper West Region and they declared their preference for the former President at a news conference in Wa.
Mr. Alhassan Sharifdeen Shash, the Spokesperson, said Mr Mahama’s “commitment and contribution” to national development, was the basis for the decision to throw their weight behind them.
He said his performance as former President, manifested in massive infrastructure, which was there for all to see.
He cited the Regional Hospital, Jambusi Water Project, Loggu and Lamussei Community Day Schools, construction of CHPS Compounds and the supply of electricity to over 400 communities as some of the development projects Mr. Mahama brought to the people in the area.
He added that apart from being the most marketable candidate, his legacy was his other trump card.
Mr Shahs appealed to all those aspiring to lead the party to ensure clean and decent campaign.
