Details are emerging of the circumstances under which Hannah Bissiw, the National Women’s Orgnaiser elect of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the keenly contested elections of the party.

A video report by Accra-based Citi TV sighted by GhanaNewsPage.Com indicate the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North paid a huge price before winning the polls.

According to the report, Hannah Bissiw ‘bribed’ delegates of the party with various household items and cash amounts before they got to the polls to elect him Women’s Organiser of the party.

According to the report, Hannah Bissiw ‘bribed’ delegates of the party with various household items and cash amounts before they got to the polls to elect him Women’s Organiser of the party.

“I got my share of Dr Hannah Bissiw’s standing fan, I also got my share, I got a gas cooker. In fact, we all got ours. For me, I got a TV set…,” some delegates confessed in the report by Citi TV.

Hannah Bissiw was elected the party’s women’s organiser at the congress.

She defeated the incumbent to become the one to lead the women’s wing of the party seeking to win the 2020 elections.



While some of the delegates are of the view that she distributed those items to ‘buy’ their votes, others.

Reacting to the allegations of vote buying, Hannah Bissiw said, ‘it was an insult’ for anyone to think that was what made her win the polls.

“I don’t want to believe there is something like that, it’s an insult…there was no vote buying here, it’s an insult to think that…,” she said in a quaking voice.

To her, the food and other drinks distributed at the congress by other aspirants don’t help them win.
