National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has stated the executive of the party is not aware the Council of elders has decided on Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, an aspiring National Chairman as the “consensus candidate” for the position.
It was reported Thursday that the Council and National Executive Committee (NEC) had informed the other candidates about the decision on the consensus candidate.
The reports suggested the four other aspirants – Dan Abodakpi, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Danny Annang, and Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu – would have to step down for Alhaji Huudu Yahaya to vie for the position unopposed.

But Kofi Adams says, “the council of elders has not communicated any such thing to us”.
Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise, Friday, he explained “the only communication we had with the council was the issue of considering extending the close of filing and the possibility of allowing people to switch positions if they so wish.”
“There has not been any communication that we as a body has settled on this person and so that is what you must go with. That hasn’t come to our attention”.
Meanwhile, the party has finally settled on the Greater Accra region as the venue for its 9th National Delegates Congress which will lead to the election of new party executives to lead the party into the 2020 general elections.
Kofi Adams, disclosed to Sunrise host, Winston Amoah that “after reviewing three different regions, we looked at the number of persons we are expecting and have settled on Accra”.
He, however, added that the youth and national organizer positions will be held in the central region on October 20 while the main congress will be in Accra on November 3.
