National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant for the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, Felix Akwetey Nii Okle, 51, a businessman, has pledged to work hard to snatch the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He called on the rank and file of the party in the constituency to unite and bury their differences and also work harder to redeem the seat for the NDC.
Mr Okle made the call when he filed his nomination at the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency office of the party to contest the upcoming primary of the party and the first among seven parliamentary aspirants in the constituency to have filed their nominations to contest.
Addressing party members amidst drumming and dancing after submitting his nomination, Mr Okle said poverty reduction, education, women empowerment and creating employment for the teaming unemployed youth in the constituency were his main priorities for contesting the Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro parliamentary seat.
“As a businessman, I have commenced in my own small way to create employment for our youth and give educational opportunities for underprivileged in the constituency, currently I have employed five people and linked others to secure jobs, offered scholarships to 20 students in the constituency to pursue Senior High School education,” he said.
Mr Okle promised to provide the youth in the constituency with start-up capital for their businesses and help secure soft loans for traders as well when he is parliamentarian-elect, and also ensure public basic schools are established in some of the communities in the constituency.
“I will lobby for markets to be constructed in all the communities in the constituency for traders to prevent them travelling long distances to trade, ensuring women empowerment and the training of women in good business management practices to help boost their businesses will be my focus and I entreat the delegates to vote for me to lead the party and wrestle power from the NPP.”
Sam Ampiah, the Constituency Secretary, said Mr Okle was the first parliamentary aspirant to have filed his nomination.
