Illegal miner trapped dead in mining pit

An illegal miner has died after a mining pit collapsed on him at Ekorso, a community in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region.

The incident happened Monday afternoon around 12:45pm.

Kasapa News has gathered that the victim identified only as Dogbeda went to the abandoned mining pit of a mining firm in the company of others to engage in illegal mining when the unfortunate incident happened.

The three others managed to escape unhurt.

The owner of the mining site was informed about the incident who brought in an excavator to retrieve the sand that had buried the deceased following which the police conveyed the body to the Kibi Government Hospital morgue.
