A former District Chief Executive, Ambrose Ashia says President Akufo-Addo’s attempt to stop illegal mining popularly known as ‘Galamsey’ in the country is failing because of the lack of commitment.
Mr Ashia who is also a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said without the political will to fight illegal mining, 'nothing can be done; no matter the number of committees or taskforce set up'.
“Various revelations that have emerged so far even go further to compromise the fight; talking of Charles Bissue, Rockson Bukari . . . all of these give the impression that the fight is lost and there is evidence to this," he said on Thursday's edition of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
