Former President John Mahama has offered his personal apologies to a Joy FM staff, Kwesi Parker Wilson, his camp has said, following an assault on the journalist by security detail.
The Joy FM reporter was slapped by the bodyguard, whose identity is yet to be known, the radio station’s portal reported.
It was at the start of Mr Mahama’s five-day tour of the Greater Accra Region ahead of the December 7 presidential primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
A statement issued by the Spokesperson of the John Mahama 2020 Campaign Team, James Agyenim Boateng, said the in-charge security has been informed about the incident.
“The matter is duly being investigated,” the statement on Monday said. The reporter is said to have been left with a bruised right eye.
