Former President John Dramani Mahama has hinted at embarking on a visit to the 275 constituencies across the nation.
He is expected to meet winners and losers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional executive elections.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, the aspiring flagbearer of the NDC said he has already spoken with the 10 chairmen elected on Saturday.
“I have also called and expressed my personal message of encouragement to many of the candidates who were not successful in the elections,” he wrote.
He expressed the view that there are no losers in the elections as “our great party, the NDC, is the winner”.
He advised the newly elected executives across the regions to reach out to all and sundry and bring them on board “for victory in election 2020”.
“The real work has just begun and we must all put our shoulders to the wheel going forward,” Mr Mahama stated.
“I look forward to meeting you all when I begin visiting the constituencies and regions in the coming weeks.”
Mr Mahama’s intended visit is to whip up support as he has declared intention to contest again for leadership of the party in the 2020 elections.
He had been the party’s leader in the past two major elections – in 2012 and 2016.
Though he did not have any contenders in 2012 and 2015 within the NDC, at least 10 persons including some appointees of his government have declared intention to contest the primary scheduled for December 7, 2018.
