President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed all Metropolitan and Municipal District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to monitor the on-going Voter’s Registration exercise in their respective districts to ensure a smooth running of the exercise.
The directive was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana began the compilation of a new Voter’s Register for the 7 December polls across the country on Tuesday, 30 June 2020.
The exercise is supposed to be done in phases.
Each phase is expected to span six days.
According to the statement: “You are required to submit weekly reports on your constituency (ies), in your districts to your respective Regional Ministers to forward electronically to the office of the Chief of Staff.”
It also gave the following deadlines for the receipt of reports from all MMDCEs: “Week One-7 July 2020, Week Two-14 July 2020, Week Three-21 July 2020, WeeK Four-28 July 2020, Week Five- 7 August 2020.”
