Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asawase Constituency is begging his contender in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries, Mubarick Masawudu to use internal mechanisms of the party to resolve outstanding matters
“The party has a constitution, it has its rules and guidelines when the party people decide that you have flouted rules, there are mechanisms to resolve it”, Muntaka advised.
There is controversy in the constituency over allegations of sabotage leveled against the constituency executives by supporters of Mubarick Masawudu who want to unseat Muntaka Mubarak.
The claims suggest that Mubarick Masawudu is not a member of good standing.
Mubarick Masawudu has threatened to stand as an independent candidate if his grievances are not addressed by the party after filing a petition to register his displeasure over how he is being handled.
But his closest contender in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com said “If you have issues, use internal mechanisms to resolve it. You don’t run to the media when you do that, you are washing your dirty linen in public
Meanwhile, the Asawase Constituency Secretary of the NDC, Mugis Mahdi has said that Muntaka Mubarak is the only person on the party’s records to have filed his nomination to contest the parliamentary elections.
According to him, Mubarick Masawudu was unable to file his forms as he arrived in Accra with some supporters to file at the party headquarters.
Reports say a Deputy Secretary at the Headquarters has refused to accept his nomination due to a supposed disciplinary action against the latter.
“I picked forms, but it is unfortunate that the party office is closed although they are supposed to be working from morning to evening,” Mubarick Masawudu when he arrived at the Regional Secretariat to a locked office.
