Some unpaid workers of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) have threatened to stage a demonstration if the government fails to pay them their allowances.

The threat follows several demands made by the trainees to their employer for the release of their allowances which they say have not been paid since May this year.

The group earlier petitioned their employer to release their allowances which had not been paid since November 2018.

Management of NABCo had earlier described as needless, plans by some trainees to protest over their unpaid allowances.

“They should pay all of us. We just want our monies…Now they saying we should write our names and details as we did last week. Are they saying they don’t know the number of people they must pay?

“We will come together and decide what to do, if we have to stage a demonstration we will,” one of the aggrieved trainees of NABCO told Starr News’ Daniel Nii Lartey.

To deal with the growing unemployment in the country, the Government announced 100,000 job opportunities in the 2018 Budget Statement.

On May Day 2018, a portal was launched by His Excellency, President Nana Akufo-Addo, to receive applications from qualified tertiary graduates. Of the 146,968 applications, all were guaranteed interviews with over 137,000 of them attending at the District Centres.

At the end of the process, 109,380 were selected as qualified where 99,000 initially accepted the selection to work on the programme.
