The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is claiming tutors and students of the Nalerigu Nursing and Midwifery College are being victimized over “Mahama we are sorry” chant.
The students stormed the rally grounds at Nalerigu on day-two of former President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘Thank You Tour’ of the North East Region, clad in their school uniforms and NDC paraphernalia to “beg” the NDC flagbearer to come back to power.
A statement issued by the North East Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Imoro Abdul-Razak claims the Principal and some support staff have since been summoned to Accra over the development.
“News of the Principal of the college and two other tutors being called to Accra to answer, for allowing the students onto the streets to wave at the Former President is unacceptable and condemnable”, he said.

We became even more appalled when we saw a statement purported to have been coming from the management of the institution, dissociating themselves from the apology of the Nursing Trainees to President Mahama.
First of all, we believe this is an unholy and mysteriously procured statement attributed to no individual from the institution.
Secondly, the students who were considered mature enough to make a voting decision for deceptive Akufo Addo, are today not considered qualified to exercise the same right without recourse to any Tutor, Principal or ‘management’? Is that what President Akufo Addo and his assigns are saying? Not only do we consider this action of the government as intolerant, but we also consider it as a wicked ploy to perpetuate fear among the authorities of such institutions and their students.
