The prosecutor in the case in which a landlord at Ofankor in Accra murdered his tenant has told the Abeka District Court that the suspect may be a COVID-19 patient.
According to the prosecution, the suspect has already tested for the virus and is awaiting his results.
This came to light after the suspect who appeared in court today [Monday] was spotted on the court premises but was not allowed out of the police vehicle that brought him.
Court Correspondent Muntalla Inusah reports that soon after the Magistrate, Achamaa Ofosu adjourned the case to June 22, 2020, the accused was immediately taken back for quarantine after the court was informed that the accused person is a suspect for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, family members and friends of the late Benjamin Okyere who was shot to death by his landlord are demanding justice.
According to the family members present at the court, the accused ought to be killed in the manner their family member was killed for justice to prevail to satisfy the principle “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”
The angry loved ones clad in red and black held posters with inscriptions like “Justice, we need Justice, God is our helper,” and chanted war songs.
