A speech by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at a Bar Conference in Takoradi, September 9, sparked several conversations and influenced headlines this week.
The President, prior to the event had in separate instances, been accused of spearheading the most corrupt administration and failing his promise of fighting corruption with all his might.
In his defense, Mr. Akufo-Addo said he was playing his role effectively by referring cases of corruption to the appropriate bodies for investigations and subsequent action.
He also noted among other things, measures put in place by his administration, to tackle the increasingly worrying canker in the country.
Following that, the opposition National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party held a presser and a counter presser respectively.
For the NDC, the President’s speech was empty and riddled with lies and deceit, a claim the NPP countered during their presser.
This and all other angles developing about the subject of corruption were tackled in Saturday's edition of Newsfile on Joynews.
The abandonment of some hospitals, the aftermath of placements for B.E.C.E and other topical issues which made the news within the week also featured on the show.
