Three branch executives of the biggest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were arrested by the police on Wednesday, 1 July 2020 for possessing registration forms of the Electoral Commission.
They were allegedly distributing the forms to prospective registrants to fill.
They are being kept in the custody of the regional police headquarters.
They were picked up at the Mamponhene registration centre within the Akwatialine area while distributing the forms.
The Asawase constituency communication officer of the NDC, Alhaji Yakubu Tony Aidoo, told Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwa in an interview that the party is doing everything it can to secure freedom for the three suspects.
“It’s not true”, Mr Tony Aidoo denied, wondering: “Are they [police officers] EC officials?”
