The police have said some suspects have been picked up in connection with the gunning down and killing of the clan head of the Prampram Traditional Area, Nene Atsure Benta III.
The Mankralo was Thursday gunned down by some assailants at Apollonia, in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of Greater Accra Region.
The deceased, who was also the acting President of the Prampram Traditional Council, was killed at about 4:40pm while returning from a meeting in Dodowa in the Shai-Osudoku District, police had earlier said.
But the Divisional Commander of Ningo Prampram, ACP Dodzi Hlordzi, told media men Friday that progress has been made on the case, revealing some arrests have been made.
“So quickly we started investigating and we picked up some people some key suspects in the case,” he said. “For security reasons, we will not like to disclose their identity now, so we have arrested some people and they are in custody now.”
He, however, maintained that for security reasons he would neither disclose the number nor identities of the suspects, insisting: “investigations are still ongoing so far, this is what we can tell you”.
ACP Dodzi used the opportunity to clarify that the killing did not happen at Prampram as has been reported by some media outlets but on “his way from Apolonia in the Afenya division”.
