A National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator in the Ashanti Region, Moro Yakubu has expressed joy over what he described as the ‘third coming’ of the New Patriotic Party Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi.
According to Moro Yakubu, retaining Wontumi will be one of the biggest wins for the NDC as the party will easily snatch more seats and automatically close the percentage margin in the 2024 elections.
“We’ve heard all the noise-making rounds. It’s a good call that Wontumi, the man who promised to win all 47 seats in Ashanti for the NPP and in turn disgraced the party is contesting again. What happened in the previous elections will be repeated. Mark it,” he said.
He made this statement on Purefm’s flagship programme, Pure Morning Drive (PMD) hosted by Kwame Adinkrah.
When asked by show host why he made those assertions, Mr Yakubu, sounding more confident added:
“We’ve tested the waters and are rest assured that with Wontumi in the boat, we’ll smile at the storm. This is a cool chop for us. Let the NPP retain him and the Ashanti region is a done deal.”
The NPP Chairman is on record to have vowed to resign from his post if the NPP fails to win all 47 parliamentary seats in the region.
His party however lost 4 parliamentary seats to the NDC and 1 to an independent candidate in the Region. He has since not resigned
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will begin the process of electing its officers from all polling stations from January 2022.
The election, which is a party constitutional directive, is expected to be held in all branches of the ruling political party, and it is to ensure proper management of the NPP going into the 2024 General Election.
