Lawmakers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which will form the Minority in the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic – expected to be sworn in tomorrow, January 7, 2017 – have resolved to pile pressure on the incoming government to fulfil all the promises the party made ahead of last year’s elections, for which reason Ghanaians voted for them.

The New Patriotic Party’s Nana Addo Dankwa won the 2016 presidential polls, while the party claimed 177 of parliamentary seats to form the Majority in the next legislature.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on Friday January 6, the Member of Parliament for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim, has said the pressure that will be mounted on the incoming government will ensure they make mistakes to give the NDC a chance in the 2020 elections.

He said: “As for the NPP, we will put pressure on them to fulfil all their promises and I am sure along the line, they will limp to give the NDC a chance to come back to power. So come what may, 2020 the NDC will come back to power.

“I am telling you on authority that we (NDC) will force them (NPP) to play nonsense and that will give us the chance to return to power. They say they have a comfortable majority but they will have their way and we will have our say. Be on the lookout, the NDC will put government on its toes.”
