The Western North branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has hit hard at a “useless” petition sent to the founder of the party and said to have been issued by the Youth Caucus in Sefwi Wiawso, calling for an extraordinary congress to have the 2020 flagbearer changed.
“Though very unfortunate, we are not so astonished bearing in mind the kind of people we are dealing with as party in power i.e the NPP. With them, anything is possible.”
A statement issued by the Regional Communications Officer, Sam Jerome, stressed that “no youth in the Western North or specifically in Sefwi Wiawso has authored such a useless release”.
It also indicated that the letterhead used is neither that of Sefwi Wiaso Constituency nor the Western North Secretariat of the NDC.
“We have however lodged a complaint with the police to arrest whoever is involved for forging a letterhead purporting to be ours.”
The NDC on Thursday stated emphatically that no offence was cited in the approved judgement by the UK court to have been committed by the unnamed government official.
Facts: Government Official 1 did not take bribe in Airbus scandal – NDC
“We strongly associate ourselves with the press conference read by our National Communication Officer on behalf of our great party in response to the reckless statement and press conference organized by the visionless NPP concerning the Airbus scandal,” the statement by the Western North Regional NDC said.
“It is instructive to note that no right thinking person will opt to change [former] President Mahama as a presidential candidate looking at his enviable record in fighting against corruption in our country. He has such an enviable record which we all know.”
The party said it is focused in the new region and will work hard to take all the seats in that region in the 2020 elections.
