AFCON 2025 Q: “Our performances were better than the results we got” – Black Stars Team Manager Ameenu Shardow asserts
Black Stars team manager, Ameenu Shardow, has defended Ghana's players despite their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Ghana finished last in Group F with three points from three draws and three losses, including two at home.
Speaking on Happy FM, Shardow argued that the team’s performances were better than the results suggested, emphasizing games where Ghana dominated but failed to secure wins.
He cited the opening match against Angola, questioning whether Ghana truly deserved to lose. Shardow urged fans to assess matches objectively, noting, “If performance is the metric, Ghana should have topped the group.”
Despite his defense, a 2-1 loss to Niger in Accra capped a disappointing campaign, leaving fans disheartened and analysts critical of the team’s inability to deliver results.
