General Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan was granted permission to excuse himself from President Nana Akufo-Addo’s farewell dinner on Friday.
The Kayserispor forward’s absence at the event which was held at the jubilee house raised a lot of eye-brows especially at the back of the recent captaincy row.
But Ghanaguardian.com gathers, the 33 year old sought permission from Nana Addo and the Black Stars management to honor another engagement he had on the same day.
Gyan was on a three-day visit to Hohoe where he was enstooled chief by the Gbui tradition council for his outstanding contributions to the development of the area.
The former Sunderland hitman will join the rest of the squad in Dubai tomorrow as they begin their three-week pre-tournament camping.
He is expected to play a key role in the fortunes of Ghana at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
