Asante Kotoko is mourning the loss of former player and coach Michael Osei, who passed away in London on November 15, 2024, at age 53.
Osei, a celebrated midfielder, had been battling a heart condition in recent months.
The club paid tribute, stating, "The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and colleagues. Rest in peace, Michael."
He began his career at Okwawu United before excelling at Kotoko, eventually playing for Bundesliga teams Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05.
As a coach, Osei managed clubs including Liberty Professionals and Bibiani Goldstars and served as an assistant coach for Ghana’s U23 team, the Black Meteors, for five years.
