Head Coach of Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold SC, Thomas Duah has revealed his side’s readiness to compete in Africa in the event the suspended 2019-20 season is annulled and representatives for Africa declared.
The season has been suspended due to the CoronaVirus pandemic. The Ghana FA in March took a decision conformable to government’s directive to ban all manner of public/social gatherings in a bid to curtail the spread of corona virus.
With hopes of an imminent resumption dashed following the government’s decision to not ease all restrictions at a go, pressure has been mounting on the GFA to swiftly decide the fate of the football season and subsequently declare which clubs will represent Ghana in the CAF Inter Clubs Competition.
AshGold qualified to play in the CAF confederation cup last season by virtue of winning the NC Special Competition Tier 2 and it looks more likely they will get the nod should the season be truncated.
Speaking to Kumasi based Oyerepa FM, Thomas Duah said his side is ready for such a task should the need arise.
”My team is ready to compete in Africa, technical team and management have discussed this and should the opportunity come,we will go again and make sure we do better than we did the last time,” Thomas Duah told Oyerepa FM.
The GFA is set to take a decision on the future of the suspended season on or before June 30.
