The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold SC, Emmanuel Frimpong has revealed that the premier league outfit is ready to compete in Africa should they be given the nod by the GFA.
The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), has given member associations a deadline date of May 5 to furnish it with names of representatives for the various inter club competitions.
The CoronaVirus pandemic has led to a shutdown of all football activities with most national leagues undecided.
This means national associations have to take a decision on the future of the leagues as well as reps to represent in Africa.
With the Ghana FA already in consultations about this development, some opinion leaders have suggested last year’s Ghanaian reps in Africa to represent next year.
AshantiGold SC by virtue of winning the NC Special Competition Tier 2 got to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup while Asante Kotoko, winner of the Tier 1 competition featured in the CAF Champions League.
CEO Emmanuel Frimpong who was appointed not long ago told Kumasi based Foxx FM, “we are ever ready to partake in African club competition if given the greenlight”.
“I was working behind the scenes for the club during Frederick Acheampong’s period as CEO. I have acquired enough experience in that time”, he concluded.
