Ghana defender Baba Rahman has clarified his decision to take a break from the Black Stars, explaining it was motivated by his need to focus on fitness rather than the boos he received during his last appearance.
Head coach Otto Addo had previously linked Rahman’s break to the emotional toll of fan reactions, but Rahman emphasized it was about recovery after his injury struggles.
Speaking to BBC Sport Africa, he highlighted his challenging history with injuries, including two ACL tears and extended sidelining, and his desire to regain fitness while playing for PAOK.
Rahman assured fans that he intends to return to the national team once fully fit, prioritizing his health for now.
