Baba Yara pitch invaders are betting addicts – NSA Deputy Director

Majeed Bawa, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority, blames betting addiction for the vandalism at the Baba Yara Stadium after Ghana's 1-0 loss to Angola in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Angry fans invaded the pitch, damaging panels and throwing objects.

Bawa, speaking to Asempa FM, said the young people responsible were frustrated by their betting losses, not just Ghana's defeat.

The poor condition of the pitch also drew criticism, with some calling for a ban on Ghana hosting games until repairs are made.
