Captain of Brekum Chelsea Zakaria Fuseini has kicked against calls for players in the local leagues to take pay cuts in the wake of the Coronavirus.
Following the suspension of football related activities due to the outbreak of the disease there have been calls for players plying their trade in the country to follow the steps of the European players as they take pay cut to reduce financial burdens on their various clubs.
This call have generated a lot of debate as to whether or not salary of local players should be slashed.
In an interview with Koforidua based Bryt FM, the towering guardsman was of the view that, salaries of local players are not enough to even think of slashing it and called on club administrators not to reduce their salaries.
“I think that decision will not help some of the players because the amount earned as salaries is already not enough. So if they reduce it, it will affect us”
“To do what the Europeans are doing now won’t help because their salaries satisfies them. So I think we cannot do what they are doing over there”
“For me, those of us playing in the local scene could have done more than that if we receives a satisfied salaries”
He then pleaded with football administrators not to slash down their salaries.
