The Cavaliers, trailing by 17 at halftime, rallied through Evan Mobley’s 22 points and 11 rebounds but fell short in the final quarter.
Celtics guard Derrick White acknowledged the significance of defeating the undefeated Cavs in an NBA Cup clash.
Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Lakers secured a sixth straight win, beating the Utah Jazz 124-118, highlighted by rookie Dalton Knecht’s career-high 37 points, including nine three-pointers.
Other results included the Denver Nuggets defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 122-110, and the Dallas Mavericks dominating the New Orleans Pelicans 132-91.
