Asamoah Gyan has recommended neem leaves to prevent the spread of the coronavirus around Africa.
Also known as the Indian lilac, the tree is popular in Africa because of its bark, leaves, and the seeds contain medicinal properties.
Neem leaves are good to kill bacteria as well as cure leprosy, eye disorders, stomach upset, loss of appetite, skin ulcers, and diseases of the heart alongside liver problems.
In a post on Twitter, the 34-year-old demonstrated a routine on how the neem is used while advising the world to go traditional in kicking out the pandemic.
“Coronavirus is real and dangerous, stay home and follow the protocols by the WHO, ministry of health and the President,” Gyan tweeted.
“Be positive, spread calm not fear, boost your immune system and practice hygiene. Resort to what our traditional fathers left for us.”
On Thursday, the ex-Sunderland star joined the fight against Covid-19 by distributing sanitisers, face masks and other health products in Accra.
According to the World Health Organisation, over 70 people have contracted the virus in the West African nation.
