Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is demanding more from players invited to play for the Black Stars in the World Cup qualifiers.

On Monday, the Black Stars succumbed to a 1-0 defeat away to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the FnB Stadium in Johannesburg.

The defeat has led to many Ghanaian fans questioning the quality of the team and that of head coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor.

The players to have featured in Ghana’s two games have failed to live up to expectations with an uninspiring performance against Ethiopia and South Africa.

The former Udinese midfielder who played in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers with the Black Stars has urged the players to do more.

“The current Black Stars players should up their game a bit, and they should know the difference between national team and club”, he told Ahomka FM.

“For qualifiers, you might go and play on a bad pitch, and you need to adjust yourself”.

Emmanuel Agyeman Badu has retired from the national team after making 76 appearances and scoring 11 goals.

He scored the last goal in the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt as the Black Satellites won that tournament through the penalty shootout.

Ghana faces Zimbabwe in a doubleheader in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in October.
