Ghanaian striker David Atanga was on target for St. Polten as they were shockingly handed a 2-1 home defeat at home by Admira to deepen their relegation woes.
Two first-half goals by Lackner and Grozurek toughen the task for the Ghanaian forward who has always laboured to banh=g in the goals for St. Polten.
Atanga reignited the determination of his side after intelligently taken on two defenders to reduce the tally in the 61st minute.
Despite their relentless efforts in the second half to restore parity, Admira defended gallantly to run away with the maximum points.
Atanga who is on loan from Red Bull Salzburg is on a mission to guide the sinking St. Polten from the claws of relegation.
He joined the side in the second round of the season and has found the back of the net twice in six appearances and has provided two assists so far.
St. Polten are still rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table and it appears only a miracle can save them from the drop.
